The General Director of Honda España, Eduardo Bigas, has confirmed today, Tuesday, in a statement made to Televisión Española that the Japanese company will continue with its project in the World MotoGP Championship. Honda will therefore carry on working with the team that is sponsored by Repsol, with Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso as its official riders.

The company announced last week that it was withdrawing from Formula 1. However Bigas has assured everybody today that Honda`s intention is to carry on with its “general plan” in the World MotoGP Championship “just as was foreseen”, that is to say with the Italian rider Andrea Dovizioso joining the squad to become Pedrosa`s teammate.

Bigas emphasised the fact that the motorcycling team “is a priority” for the Japanese company, not in vain have Honda and Repsol have been together since 1995 and in all that time they have won nine world titles in the top category of motorbike racing. On the other hand, Arturo Sos, director of sponsorship at Repsol, has said that the petrol company is “calm” regarding the situation.

Moreover, in addition to Honda`s main project in the World MotoGP Championship, the Repsol Honda Team, the Japanese company will have another four motorbikes on the MotoGP grid in its satellite teams. However, the company has confirmed that its objective is none other than to win back the world title with the Repsol team, its partner.
