The circuit of Laguna Seca will host the final GP before the summer break when all the MotoGP riders get three weeks of hard-earned holidays. But before that they have to tackle the challenging Californian circuit. With Dani Pedrosa`s participation still up in the air Nicky Hayden will go to his home country with his eyes on the podium whre he has been before.
Hayden goes to the American GP hoping to break his run of bad luck. Since he made his debut on the new engine, with pneumatic valves, at Donington Park, he has improved his performances. But fate has stopped him getting better results. Now, on home soil, the Repsol rider is confident that he will be back on a podium that is very familiar to him; he was on it in 2005 and 2006, the latter season he was also proclaimed World Champion.
On the other hand, Dani Pedrosa is doubtful for the race in the USA after falling in the German GP. The decision to race or not will not be known until the last moment as the doctors, the team and the rider himself wait for positive signs. The rider went into hospital - Instituto Universitari Dexeus de Barcelona – on Sunday night to for an examination and after being cleared to leave flew to the USA to continue with his recovery.
The Circuit of Laguna Seca is one of the most special in the championship. The famous ‘Corkscrew’ series of curves makes it into one of the most complicated circuits for both the riders as well as the mechanics. Moreover, its characteristics include the curious fact that it is the only circuit that only has one race, MotoGP. The two smaller categories, 250cc and 125cc, are already on holiday, they began right after the German GP.
