Elías will undergo surgery after the tests in Jerez

The Spanish rider Toni Elías has surgery pending as he has to have an operation to extract a steel plate that he had inserted at the end of the 2007 season. However, both the rider and his team have decided to postpone the date with the doctors and take part in the tests at the end of November at the circuit of Jerez.

The first plan was for the rider to have this operation after the tests held in Valencia a couple of weeks ago, immediately after the GP de la Comunitat Valenciana, but the decision made by the whole team together was to wait a little longer, “because it is safer” explained the Spanish rider.

Toni Elías will begin a new era next year when he starts with the San Carlo Honda Gresini team and he prefers not to miss any chance of a ride on his new machine. “After the surgery I will have two months to prepare for Malaysia and get almost completely fit” he says.

The Spaniard is really looking forward to this new challenge: “In Valencia and Jerez my bike will be the one ridden by Nakano, and in Malaysia I will have the bike for 2009 completed and ready, something that will be very good for me as I will have the engine with pneumatic valves, the new chassis… but for the time being I am pleased with what I have available”.
