Dani Pedrosa gets a spectacular podium finish at Le Mans

Copy Repsol

The Repsol rider, Dani Pedrosa, managed to finish on the podium after an intense final few laps as he snatched third position from his teammate Andrea Dovizioso. The victory went to Jorge Lorenzo, and the surprise of the day was Marco Melandri´s second place. Valentino Rossi fell and did not win any points. The Australian Casey Stoner could only finish fifth.

The Moto GP race was really spectacular, especially because of the state of the track which dried out as the race progressed and obliged the riders to change bikes in the middle of the race. Dani Pedrosa got off to a good start and he retained his first place although he later had some problems, something that Rossi, Stoner and Lorenzo took advantage of. From that moment on the danger of rain vanished, the track dried out and the second part of the race began.

Valentino Rossi was the first to change and ride a bike with slicks. Just behind him in the pits was Pedrosa, and this turned out to be a good decision. Rossi fell just after changing his bike and was penalised for exceeding the speed limit in the Pit Lane. After the fall Pedrosa rode more carefully until the track was completely dry. Ahead of him Dovizioso, Lorenzo and Melandri were still on wet tyres. In the end all riders changed bikes and among the first four there were two Repsol riders, Dovizioso third and Pedrosa fourth. Only Lorenzo and Melandri managed to make good their race strategies.

The final few laps were heart-stopping as all the interest turned to the duel between the Honda Repsol riders, in the middle of a spectacular battle to finish on the podium. The seven second lead that the Italian had were reduced to nothing as the final lap started. A few corners before the end an in form Dani Pedrosa overtook Dovizioso. A great race for the Honda Repsol team which demonstrated that it is in the fight for the world title.
