Fourth place for Dovizioso at Laguna Seca

Copy Repsol Media

The Repsol rider finished fourth in a race that was marked by the fall involving his teammate Pedrosa, who at the time was the clear leader. The incident benefitted Lorenzo who in the end carried off the victory.

The race at Laguna Seca was as excited as had been expected. The start was thrilling. Over the first few metres Pedrosa got past Lorenzo, Hayden and Dovizioso in spectacular fashion. And so the Spaniard was the race leader at the first corner. From then on he set a blistering pace that left Lorenzo and Stoner in his wake. But Lady luck did not smile on him and his front wheel slid when his dominance was more than evident, and he fell. A pity for Pedrosa who had been in a great position to win and get closer to Lorenzo in the battle for the world title.

But the other team rider Andrea Dovizioso did put in a great performance at the American circuit after starting on the front row. At the start he had a little problem but quickly picked up the pace he had shown in practice and moved into third place after Pedrosa`s fall and was on course for a podium finish. But with just three laps left he was overtaken by Rossi. On the final lap heart-stopping lap he tried to get past the Yamaha rider but miscalculated a corner. In the end he was fourth which gave him a good points haul as he tried to climb in the overall classification.
