All-round success for the Repsol drivers in the SEAT Sport team in the World Touring Car Championship, who have achieved their targets for the 2009 season in the final race of the year, held in the early hours of this morning at the urban circuit in Macau. Gabriele Tarquini has been crowned the 2009 World Champion, reissuing the title won a year ago by his team-mate Yvan Muller, who was second. Furthermore, his results were enough for the Spanish manufacturer, which wears the colours of Repsol, to take the manufacturers' title.

The long WTCC 2009 season ends in Macau on 22nd November - it began in Brazil on 8th March - and the SEAT Sport team has been the star of the year so far. The team`s five drivers go to the final race of the year at the top of the overall after one of the most exciting seasons ever in the WTCC. Gabriele Tarquini, Yvan Muller and Augusto Farfus are all in with a chance of winning the Drivers` Championship, just 13 points separate them and 20 are up for grabs this weekend. And there are only 3 points between SEAT and BMW with a maximum of 36 in play this weekend.

The Japanese team has announced that it will leave Formula 1 owing to the company`s economic problems. This decision comes just a few days after Bridgestone, the single tyre supplier to the competition, announced its departure from F1 at the end of next season.

In the early hours of this morning, another World Touring Car Championship race was held at the Okayama circuit, Japan, in which the Repsol drivers have added another podium finish, thanks to the performance, on this occasion, of Yvan Muller. In extremely adverse weather conditions, the Repsol drivers have achieved the goal of maintaining leadership of the championship, with just one more event ; in Macau, which will be held on 22 November and which will decide the championship.
