How to contract a butane supply

Moving into a new home usually involves contracting the essential services in order to get started. Detailed below are all the steps which must be followed in order to sort out a butane or propane gas supply.

There are many issues to deal with on moving house. As well as all of the paperwork associated to purchasing a property there is the move, furniture and essential items to buy, and most importantly of all, the utility contracts must be set up in order to start to feel “at home”. If we opt for butane or propane gas, the first step is to approach an authorised engineer, who comes with guarantees and will act quickly and efficiently. Repsol YPF, the leading gas distributor in Spain and Argentina, is currently the most popular company for butane and propane gas supply contracts. The best thing to do is to contact the company agency in your area. In order to find out where it is located you just have to call 901 100 100, or visit the company website.

You should make an appointment with the engineer to have the system checked out. That way, if everything is in order, they will certify the suitability of the installation in a document that is required to formalise the contract. Otherwise, the professional will advise the customer about the actions required in order to ensure that the system is totally safe.

Once the suitability of the installation for butane or propane gas has been confirmed, you will need to approach the company agency in order to formalise the contract and provide the following documents: a photocopy of your identity card or the most recent business tax (I.A.E.) bill, in the case of a company; a photocopy of the occupancy certificate or the equivalent document required by the autonomous regions, in the case of a newly built property; the gas installation certificate or the suitability document issued by the engineer on the previous visit; and the heating installation certificate with the record of entry in the Competent Territorial Body (O.T.C.), where necessary.

With gas at home

From then on, you can order the gas cylinders you require and replace them regularly using the butane and propane home delivery service that operates in all areas. The duties of the new customer include having the installation serviced regularly. Repsol YPF recommends that services should take place every four or five years, depending on the autonomous region, complying with the obligations stipulated by article 7 of the technical regulation on gas fuel distribution and use, approved in Royal Decree 919/2006 of 28 July.

On the company website, which is highly recommended due to the clarity with which all of the concepts are explained and enquiries are dealt with, we are invited to follow a few simple safety tips: that the flexible tube should not touch the back of the oven or other heat sources; that there should always be ventilation where there is a gas appliance (in the case of vents, they must not be obstructed by dust or covered by any object); and that the flame must always have a stable, blue appearance.

Repsol YPF offers a comprehensive service, including 24-hour assistance for incidents and emergencies. Aware of the importance of the material it works with and in virtue of it being a priority product for the consumer, the oil company offers customers interesting services to reinforce their comfort and peace of mind at home. The best example is the Maintenance Plus Service, which includes the compulsory official review, an annual inspection of the installation, a series of free benefits in the repair service, and insurance with cover of up to 30,000 euros.

Repsol YPF is currently celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the butane gas cylinder. In order to commemorate this event and pay tribute to a product which is linked to the sentimental and social memory of Spanish people, the company has launched an activity area on its Internet portal, where you can send your own stories, images and videos related to the emblematic gas cylinder.
