Choosing the right shower screen

Shower screens and cubicles have totally changed in recent years. The incorporation of innovative materials and functional designs are the distinguishing marks of the new models.

Those shower screens with complicated opening mechanisms that scratched shower trays and baths and became covered in steam when you had a relaxing shower are long gone. The new shower screens offer a wide range of possibilities, from modular models to fixed panels and those with swinging doors, those with revolving hinges, and those incorporating sliding doors, although this type has been largely superseded by functional designs with a single door with revolving hinges.

Evolution in the bathroom, a room which tends towards minimalism and the removal of unnecessary accessories, can undoubtedly be seen in shower screens, which have purged their lines as much as possible, functional designs triumphing over any other aspect. The designs are  genuinely simple. They have panels with a single door with rounded edges in order to avoid scratches and cuts.

Behind the apparent simplicity of the new shower screens there are high quality materials, such as profiles and hinges which enable easy opening, and new resistant glass, treated with cutting-edge techniques, such as smoking to preserve intimacy in the shower, maximum transparency so that the shower screen is an invisible element of the bathroom, and safety systems which make them unbreakable products.

No end of options

Choosing a shower screen currently depends on what you are prepared to spend, since there are various product categories in all price ranges. All types are available for all of the different shower trays in different price ranges, between 200 euros and 5000 euros. The most expensive are well designed and incorporate resistant, highly safe glass and the latest profiles and hinges. The current tendency is to opt for single door shower screens with rounded edges.

Cubicles are also popular, areas created to forget about the world, with one or two seats in order to share the shower with your partner, hydromassage columns and subtle lighting. These products enter directly in the top range of the market, and really transform your bathroom into an area of relaxation, enjoyment and well-being.

The most innovative options

Amongst the most modern shower screens and cubicles of the last five years, those produced by the brands CesanaRoca and VitrA stand out, as do those distributed by Gunni at its different shops in Spain. The Gunni bathroom stores are showcases of well-known national and international companies, with spectacular cubicles designed by recognised experts in creating unique bathroom products.

The Italian company Cesana, a shower screen expert, makes safety and watertightness the distinguishing marks of its products. The Spanish company Roca has a varied range of options, with various ranges of prices and designs. The Turkish company VitrA is one of the biggest companies worldwide that creates unique ambiences in the bathroom. Its designer ranges represent a perfect harmony between beauty, functionality and sustainability. The projects by the Italian design studio Inci Mutlu stand out, as do the designs by the Welsh designer Ross Lovegrove.
