Ovens and cookers for an easier life

Los actuales diseños de electrodomésticos están enfocados a facilitar el trabajo en la cocina. Sus funciones permiten ahorrar tiempo, no sólo a la hora de cocinar sino también cuando hay que limpiarlos.

Nowadays, the world of electrical appliances offers an endless range of models, from the most basic to the highly sophisticated. One of the latest innovations is glass gas hobs, a more modern version of the traditional gas stoves.

The fact is that gas hobs have remained popular and many people consider gas to be the most suitable form of energy for cooking food perfectly, because it provides more controllable heat. Furthermore, all of the burners can be used at the same time, such that it is possible to cook several dishes simultaneously, with the resulting time and money saving.

It is also true that over the years the traditional models have evolved. As such, gas cookers have the latest technology and it is possible to find models with electronic ignition for safer handling, which enables you to forget about matches or electric lighters. Each burner has a device that releases sparks in a specific area of the controls and that way, it lights automatically.

Furthermore, these appliances have acoustic warnings, electronic safety disconnectors, residual heat indicators and sealed burners, which prevent dripping and make them easier to clean. Some brands also have a gas-stop system, that shuts off the gas supply if there is a leak.

Programmable ovens

Where ovens are concerned, nowadays it is possible to buy them separately, without necessarily being attached to the hob. In addition to having electronic ignition, the cooking time can be programmed, such that the oven turns itself on and off automatically and then keeps the food warm for an hour. This saves time because the food can be ready for when you get home or simply be kept warm until you wish to serve it.

However, it doesn’t only keep the food warm. Modern multifunction ovens also have a heat probe that is inserted into the food and measures its temperature. Once it reaches the desired temperature, the electronic control automatically disconnects the appliance. Furthermore, it is possible to find ovens with different temperature zones.

Another feature of new appliances is that it is no longer necessary to spend time cleaning the oven. Many appliances have a pyrolytic function that, when selected, reaches temperatures of up to 500ºC.

The intense heat decomposes the dirt and converts it into ashes which can be simply wiped away, making the use of pollutant chemical products unnecessary. Another advantage of this feature is that it consumes a very small amount of energy. Some ovens even allow you to programme the start and end of the pyrolytic cleaning cycle in order to benefit from night-time rates.

These electrical appliances also have electronic mechanisms to control the oven functionality, including the automatic switching off option. That way, if the oven is switched on accidentally, it is programmed to turn itself off automatically after 12 hours, although this automatic switching off option can be extended to up to 72 hours.
